Disrupt for Good: Nachhaltigkeit als Wachstumsmotor und Gründungschance

Workshop: Managing Microservice Communication with Kubernetes and Istio Service Mesh

Event Details

We are happy to host our next BYOD* free, hands-on workshop in 2020 at TechQuartier in Frankfurt! What you can expect during our Meetups: hands-on, talks, networking, food and drinks.

Are you looking to select the right technologies to build your next application? Get your hands dirty with these technologies before you start your build. Learn how Kubernetes and Istio give you full control over your microservices.

Kubernetes minimizes outages and disruptions through self-healing, intelligent scheduling, horizontal scaling, and load balancing.
Istio is an open platform to connect, secure, control and observe microservices, also known as a service mesh, on cloud platforms such as Kubernetes in IBM Cloud Kubernetes Service and VMs. With Istio, you can manage network traffic, load balance across microservices, enforce access policies, verify service identity, secure service communication, and observe exactly what is going on with your services.

*Bring Your Own Device

In this workshop, you can see how to install and use Istio alongside microservices for a simple mock app called Guestbook.
After you complete this workshop, you’ll be able to:
– Install Istio in your cluster
– Deploy the Guestbook sample app
– Use metrics, logging, and tracing to observe services
– Set up the Istio Ingress Gateway
– Perform simple traffic management, such as A/B tests and canary deployments
– Secure your service mesh
– Enforce policies for your microservices

Rough Agenda:
18:00 Registration and Welcome
18:15 Hands-on Workshop
19:30 Networking and Refreshments

“Facts don’t persuade; feelings do.

And stories are the best way to get at those feelings.”

– Tom Asacker, writer and Storyteller

Being able to get your message across in a moving and inspiring way is an indispensable competence within (personal) leadership these days. For startups this is even more important. You constantly have to pitch your product, your business plan, your ideas. And, when you have great ideas, you need great stories!

Because, a good story, well told, at the right moment connects people and sets people in motion.

On 6 February, join a special free workshop lead by Antoinette Beijen (https://www.antoinettebeijen.nl/), an expert communication trainer. She has a unique capacity to bring psychological-, storytelling- and voice techniques to practical business  communication. Her own voice is heard in a lot of TV commercials, documentaries, corporate movies and audio tours in the famous Dutch museums.

Since this workshop is part of our Cereal Series, this is a special member-only perk designed to help you succeed.

Complimentary breakfast – cereal – and coffee will be available.

The opportunity to shape the future has never been greater than today. And more than ever, it is necessary to do so prudently and sustainably. For companies, this is an opportunity to accompany social progress and develop business models that solve the global challenges of digitization, climate change, migration, diversity and education.

Professional football is constantly moving between civil society and economic enterprise. Thanks to its appeal and the extraordinarily high emotional bond between club and supporters, football can act as a mouthpiece, multiplier and role model. Using the diverse social potential of football responsibly and effectively is both an opportunity and an obligation.

Together with Farid Bidarel (Chairman of the Executive Board, CodeDoor) and Matthias Thoma (Head of Eintracht Frankfurt Museum), we will discuss the topic of social responsibility versus (or with) the pursuit of profit.

Agenda

18.30 Opening & Drinks

19.00 Welcome by Eintracht Frankfurt & TechQuartier

19.05 Talk with Farid Bidarel, CodeDoor & Matthias Thoma, Eintracht Frankfurt Museum moderated by Timm Jäger

20.00 – 21.00 Networking & Drinks
